Who is James Storie-Pugh?

I am a very lucky individual who has an exceptional network of family, friends and colleagues who offer perspective and support on a regular basis and underpin all my modest successes.

What’s the story behind Mellow.store?

Spending time in LA in 2017 for work, my business partner and I saw the growing exposure of CBD in mainstream retail and the positive feedback it was receiving from a consumer standpoint. We felt that with our experience in eCommerce and marketplaces we could come back to UK and build a digital D2C marketplace for CBD. We raised a little money and we were off the races.

What was the most difficult part of your experience in the early beginnings?

Understanding how much to give before asking for something in return. There were times in the early days when a considerable amount of work was done for potential clients while we were expecting an engagement afterwards…which after a lot of chasing never came. Being given a chance by a larger company when your company is small and insignificant will be a game changing event. To this day I remember the first chance we got and the woman (Sophie) who gave it to us. Never looked back.

What are you most proud of regarding your business?

Building relationships with exceptional individuals who have helped us achieve considerably more than we could of alone.

What is your vision for the future of Mellow.store?

Mellow is looking to become the leading global retail partner for CBD brands. We have spent a considerable amount of time building up operations in China and India as well as offline distribution throughout the US as well as bringing education to the global market around the benefits of CBD as a supplement opposed to big Parma solutions.

What’s your advice for the businesses that are trying to adapt to this economic climate?

There are exceptional resources out there in the gig economy (upwork, fiverr etc) which can support your business in many ways without the cost and stress of bringing onboard full-time head count.

We continually use these sites and resources as a tool to be more proactive when opportunities arise, and we need top quality work done.
